Getting up early is worth it! Already at 5:30 we started our adventure to the Mahdriedl. Already before sunrise, we took some altitude and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere in the nature. After 2 hours the spectacle began \u2013 the sunrise starts behind the Salzburger Dolomites. This is fantastic! But that\u2019s not all. Our tour just started. Start of the Adventure<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

It\u2019s 5:30 in the morning. A good time to set off for the sunrise in the mountains. With a group of 10 people and our hiking guide Georg we start our tour to the top. The temperatures are pleasantly cool and there are no clouds in the sky \u2013 ideal conditions for us.<\/p>

Already at the beginning I can\u2019t get out of the amazement. The area in the beautiful Annaberg is a real wonder of nature. Does the legendary paradise look like this? Probably! I am fascinated by the spectacular view of the Gosaukamm.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

On the Way Up<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

After a few minutes along pastures and fields we arrived in the forest. The first birds welcome us with their chirping and warble a few songs for us \ud83d\ude09<\/p>

After the nice greeting we are now going a little bit steeper uphill. At the edge of the path we marvel at the great vegetation again and again. Well, \u201cwayside\u201d can hardly be said here. Meanwhile we do not have signs on the way anymore. I would not find the way up. And that\u2019s why we have our experienced hiking guide Georg with us. He leads us through the middle of the forest to our destination. But first to a drinking fountain to fill up with water. Since we did start to sweat a little on the way up, our short stopover is very welcome.<\/p>

But we will not stay here for long as we do not want to miss the sunrise. So we go on right away.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Rise of the Hero<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

We are now 2 hours on the road and have found an excellent place at Loseggalm to enjoy the performance of our guest. In other words, it\u2019s time for sunrise!<\/p>

Fortunately, we arrived at the top on time. There is even enough time to set up the cameras and prepare to capture the perfect moment. My GoPro is also drawn out and well placed to capture the spectacle in fast motion.<\/p>

Here we go! The sun is slowly peeking out from behind the almost 2,500 meter high Bischofsm\u00fctze (mountain). Suddenly it becomes very quiet and everyone enjoy the moment. The entire Gosaukamm is slowly illuminated by the sun\u2019s rays. Have I ever mentioned how great the view of the Gosaukamm is? I probably did, but I\u2019ll do it again anyway.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Well-Deserved Breakfast<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

Meanwhile the sun can be seen in full splendor in the sky. For us this means that we can strengthen ourselves with an extensive breakfast. The Loseggalm offers mainly regional delicacies from their own farm and alpine dairy. My favorite is definitely the homemade cheese! An absolute feast for the palate.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Last Meters to the Peak<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

After we have enjoyed our breakfast, we continue to the final destination \u2013 the Mahdriedl. With an excellent view of the Gosaukamm, we get closer and closer to our destination. On the way up, a few animals cross the way every now and then. Right now, we are standing in front of a horse that doesn\u2019t seem to be very shy. My colleague Chris approaches slowly to get the animal ideally in front of the lens. Or as he would call it: \u201cI am preparing for the Million Dollar Shot\u201d. The photogenic horse with the model looking face seems to enjoy the attention \u2013 or it is totally uninterested. It\u2019s more likely to be the uninterested.<\/p>

\u201cClick, click\u201d. Chris\u2019s face looks happy. He must have done his Million Dollar Shot. Now the others and I are approaching the horse. While the horse is rather shy and runs away when I want to pet it, it does not do so when Sophie comes. Sophie seems to have a talent as a horse whisperer. Our model horse \u201cAlfredo\u201d seems to enjoy Sophie\u2019s gentle caresses. But unfortunately, we have to leave Alfredo behind, because we have to go on to the top again.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

A Spectacular View Awaits Us<\/h3><\/div><\/div>

After 4.5 hours (including breakfast) we arrived at the Mahdriedl. Here we are in a spot of untouched nature, far away from the tourist masses. And even if I thought that the view from Loseggalm couldn\u2019t get any better, I was wrong. From here we have a 360 degree view over the whole area. A view that makes the heart of every hiker beats faster. The ascent was definitely worth it!<\/p>
