The highest, Rigi Kulm, lies at 1,797 meters above sea level.<\/p><p>Subsequently, there is A LOT to discover and every hike is rewarded with a phenomenal view of Central Switzerland\u00b4s panorama. It did not really require much more to convince us!<\/p><h3><strong>Here we go again | On memory lane<\/strong><\/h3><p>As a matter of fact, we have been here already, at Rigi Kr\u00e4bel cable car station.<\/p><p>We have been here with the same tingling anticipation of a fantastic hike. To us, one year ago, the trek was without a doubt on the difficult side. As a matter of fact, we never thought that we would ever enjoy a long, strenuous and sweaty ascent. I suppose it is the newly gained strength and fitness that one enjoys after all. I simply love this based-on-trust attitude of so many restaurants and other vendors in Switzerland. Flowers, fresh produce, vegetables, drinks, eggs, dairy products and chimney wood, you can get plenty of stuff this way.<\/p><p>Another two hikers had already enjoyed a lemonade and a beer on the restaurant\u00b4s terrace. We stopped for a chat, exchanging our mountaineering experiences and recommendations.<\/p><p>I must admit, I was glad, that we could already contribute to this conversation with confidence from our previous experiences. After a year, we were one step further away from being classified as tourists.<\/p><h3><strong>A great hike for a warm day<\/strong><\/h3><p>After the short break and motivating chat, we continued our hike upwards through the forest.<\/p><p>This particular hike is especially suitable in warm temperatures, as you will be moving a lot in the light woods. If not, let me give you a few astonishing facts:<\/p><ul><li>The Vitznau \u2013 Rigi Kulm cogwheel railway opened in 1871, making it Europe\u00b4s first mountain railway.<\/li><li>In 1874 the train already transported over 100,000 passengers<\/li><li>Altogether, two mountain trains, as well as seven aerial cable cars serve the popular mountain<\/li><li>Nowadays, all means of transport carry up to 650,000 guests. Out of these, around 550,000 are Swiss Nationals. Mount Rigi is therefore one of the most popular destination for local tourists<\/li><\/ul><p>We sat down at the train station and took a moment to rest. In retrospect I am glad we did, as the following ascent was rather steep. Furthermore, we got a little bit lost, which led to another couple of unnecessary meters in the burning sun.\u00a0<\/p><p>Therefore, pay attention at Fruttli train station! Eventually we made it and were rewarded with magnificent views of the central alpine panorama.
