Scenic round trek from Brunnen´s main train station via the “Wilerbrücke”, Urmiberg´s south flank and along the lakeshore and boat station back to the starting point. This is, without a doubt, an easy and pleasant hike in canton Schwyz, offering various lovely viewpoints along the way.

We started this enjoyable trail at Brunnen’s main train station.

From there, the familiar yellow signs led us into the direction of the “Wilerbrücke”, a charming wooden bridge above the Muota river. Whilst crossing the bridge, we spotted our first viewpoint: The striking Mythen mountains.

These two outstanding giants are always worth stopping for and for us, they are amongst the prettiest mountains in Central Switzerland.

From the bridge, our trail led us gently uphill through a neat residential area and right on to further viewpoints.

From the charming chapel, the gentle ascent soon turned into a relatively steep and slightly sweaty climb.

As we know by now: the harder the climb, the better the views!

To our right, the Mythen mountains rose beautifully up into the sky, with the village Schwyz at their feet.

Behind us, Lake Lucerne with the Lake of Uri and the Gersau lake basin opened up and made us linger to soak in the picturesque landscape.

After roughly an hour, the steepest part of this trail was over and a lightly ascending forest road led us up to the highest point, farm “Stöck”.  Since we had just found our step and “hiking rhythm”, the sudden end of the ascent almost came as an unwelcome surprise.

The views from the farm, however, pushed away this feeling in a split of a second. We sat down in front of a shed and took the longest break, we had taken all day. There, we were fully enjoying the warm sunshine in our faces.

Our homemade sandwiches tasted even better with this magnificent view ahead of us!

Afterwards, the trek led us rapidly back down to Brunnen, where we decided to walk straight to the lakeshore.

We sat down at a bench and took a full breath in and a long breath out. What a beautiful walk!
